SANTA MARINA Our Neighbourghood: SIGHTSEEING and DINING
It is located within the ancient walls of the historic center, in the Muslim quarter or Axerquía, where we enjoy an authentic atmosphere, rarely visited by tourists. Here you’ll find the city’s oldest churches, the FERNANDINE CHURCHES, built to replace the ancient mosques demolished by the Christian conquerors beginning in 1236.
Our home—and yours—is located at Calle Empedrada 8, 14001.
It’s a 10-minute walk from the modern city center and a 25-minute walk from the MOSQUE, a stroll through the historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s well-served by city buses, making a private car unnecessary.
It’s a 25-minute walk along a pleasant route or 4 stops by direct bus from the train and bus stations.
DINING
For breakfast, don’t miss the “tostá” with olive oil, tomato, and finely chopped serrano ham. These ingredients are layered on the bread in that order. Between approximately €3.50 and €5, including a hot drink. There are several cafés just a few minutes from the house. La Copita de vino and the Ollerias bakery are 2 minutes away from us. LA SULTANA offers a wide variety of breads, and at Hakuna Matata, the selection is spectacular.
Lunch/dinner. Various neighborhood taverns, AMONG OTHERS:
*Taberna CASA LUIS, *SOCIEDAD DE PLATEROS MARIA AUXILIADORA
